Memoirs of Rolf Slen

Lt. Rolf Slen was the B-24 navigator of Emil Turek’s Lonesome Lady crew. His memoirs were written decades after his WWII service with the clarity that life events brings to a writer. On Veterans Day in 2018, one of the editors (MS) visited Mr. Slen in his home and for two days they poured over his war records, memories, memorabilia, and the first four of his now five unpublished memoirs. Mr Slen agreed that those memoirs would be published here so long as two brief redactions were made in order to remove sensitive and somewhat speculative information about his friends and comrades in arms. Those omissions were made.
